We are back in Galway City, this time to the east side for our 3rd meeting. I expect to hear about Ballybane’s reputation for strong community spirit, which has led to its community garden, Men’s Shed, the popularity of the local library, resource centre, and support for the John Paul Centre.
In the far northeast of Galway West constituency lies Clonboo, surrounded by a number of small villages: Corrandulla, Annaghdown, Loughgeorge, Knockdoe and other communities. What are the local issues for those living on the eastern shore of Lough Corrib.
From small villages to one of Galway’s largest towns, on March 12th we will be in Clifden, at the Alcock and Brown hotel for more local conversations. As a thriving tourist draw, Clifden benefits from the natural beauty surrounding it. What makes Clifden such a great place to live? What are the current challenges that need to be highlighted?
Our sixth meeting brings us back to the east of the City, to the growing town of Oranmore, with its reputation of strong volunteerism supporting a large number of sports and community clubs and organisations. I look forward to learning about what is working well in Oranmore, and how this community can be better supported.
